Shurmur Says Colt McCoy Is The "Logical Choice" To Start

Browns head coach Pat Shurmur on QB Colt McCoy's claim that he's already been confirmed the starter in 2011: "I don't know if that's been the case, but that would be the logical assumption." Shurmur, who will call plays for the Browns, really doesn't have any other option on the roster as Jake Delhomme is expected to get released and Seneca Wallace is scheduled to be a free agent. McCoy was a good game manager as a rookie QB in 2010 as he finished with 1,576 passing yards, six touchdowns and nine interceptions, completing 60.8 pct. of his passes. Shurmur just spent the 2010 season with rookie QB Sam Bradford, so he should be able to take elements of the lessons he taught Bradford and apply them to McCoy.
