Browns Fans and Hillis Defeat Rodgers in Madden Cover Competition

Cleveland Browns fans don’t believe in any curses.  Or at least you would have to assume as much as they propelled Peyton Hillis to another victory in the ESPN tourney to crown a new cover star for EA Sports’ biggest franchise game.  Peyton Hillis put up some impressive statistics winning 61% of the vote with over 548,000 votes cast.

Meanwhile, across the brackets, Michael Vick beat Adrian Peterson with 59% of the vote.  The interesting thing though is that there were just over 379,000 votes cast in that competition.  If you round those numbers off, that means Michael Vick got 223,610 votes while Peyton Hillis got 334,280. Obviously the finals matchup could turn out wildly different, but given those results, Hillis would have gotten a 60-40 victory over Michael Vick.

So...as a dyed in the wool Cleveland Browns fan I think what we have to do is unite and keep the votes flowing.

Even if Peyton Hillis winds up winning this thing with our support and gets hurt
(i.e. the Madden Curse where the winner never wins a Super Bowl), there is still no proof.  An NFL running back getting hurt in a given season is no more a curse than pointing to a snowshower in April in Cleveland.  It is unpleasant, but it happens sometimes.  We’re tough enough to deal with it.  So buy a shovel and vote early and often for Peyton Hillis as he goes against Michael Vick.

A win for Hillis is truly a win for Cleveland Browns fans.  It shows the world just how passionate we are about our team.  This goes beyond a great player like Peyton Hillis.  He is just a vehicle for us to show off and show up all the other NFL fans in the nation.  I really don’t see any Steelers in the finals. Do you?
