Is Jake Delhomme Headed Back To The Carolina Panthers?

Jake Delhomme came to the Cleveland Browns last year expecting to be the starting quarterback for several seasons. Colt McCoy was considered a work in progress and Delhomme was supposed to be a mentor that could help the younger players on the Browns’ offense mature. Fast-forward to this summer and Delhomme’s status with the Browns has completely changed.
Cleveland may not retain Delhomme next season as the Browns have decided to move forward with Colt McCoy and Seneca Wallace at the front of their quarterback depth chart. Trade rumors have been circulating through various regions of the NFL, however only one really seems to have any type of ammunition.
The Carolina Panthers will be entering next season with Cam Newton, Jimmy Clausen, and Tony Pike on the active roster and need a veteran presence to help the quarterbacks grow. Delhomme was a fan favorite throughout most of his career with Carolina and even led the Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance in the mid-2000′s.
The Browns will likely release Delhomme when the labor agreement is finally reached in a few weeks. However, expect Cleveland to test the open trade market in order to gauge interest around the league.
